Welcome to Clarkston SCAMP!
About Clarkston SCAMP
Clarkston SCAMP is a unique five-week summer day program designed for children and adults with special needs, encompassing a wide range of emotional and physical diagnoses. Our program provides a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where SCAMPers can enjoy enriching activities while building friendships and social skills.
Engaging Activities & Community Involvement
At SCAMP, we offer a diverse array of experiences tailored to the interests and needs of our SCAMPers, including:
- Music & Art Therapy – Encouraging creativity and self-expression.
- Field Trips – Exciting outings to local venues such as Clarkston Family Farm, Air Time Trampoline, 4H Fair, bowling alleys, golf courses, movie theaters, and more.
- Beach & Boating Days – Enjoyed through a partnership with Oakland County Parks and Recreation.
- Gross Motor Activities – Promoting movement and physical engagement.
- Socialization Opportunities – Facilitating interaction among peers and the broader community.
While SCAMP is based in Clarkston, more than half of our SCAMPers come from outside the district. All are welcome to apply!
Affordable & Accessible for All
We are committed to ensuring that financial barriers never prevent participation. Financial aid is available through the North Oakland SCAMP Funding Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by a dedicated 22-member volunteer board. Thanks to their efforts, SCAMP has never turned away a camper due to financial need. This funding also helps us keep tuition costs as low as possible, recognizing the financial challenges of raising a child with special needs.
Support for Families
SCAMP is not only a fantastic experience for campers but also provides a much-needed respite for parents and siblings. Families can have peace of mind knowing their loved one is safe, well cared for, and having fun in a structured and supportive setting.
Exceptional Staff & Volunteer Opportunities
SCAMP offers valuable employment and volunteer opportunities for young people, many of whom go on to pursue careers in special education, healthcare, or related fields. Our team includes:
- Highly Trained Lead Teachers & Adult Aides – Primarily school staff with specialized experience in working with individuals with special needs.
- A High Camper-to-Counselor Ratio – Ensuring personalized attention and support based on individual camper needs.
Join us for an unforgettable summer filled with laughter, learning, and lifelong memories!
