ABOUT SCAMP CAMP

SCAMP is a five-week summer program developed and designed for children and young adults with special needs. It runs from the end of June to the end of July (except for the week of July 4) from 9:00am-2:00pm Monday through Wednesday. The cost of SCAMP is $700 for Clarkston in-district and $1,100 for out of district.  There is financial assistance for those in need.  The actual cost of the camp is much higher than the tuition but we strive to keep costs as low as possible for our families.

SCAMPers range in age from 3 to over 40 years old. There is almost a 1:1 ratio of SCAMPers to counselors/volunteers. Physical, as well as, emotional support is provided while fostering a sense of belonging in addition to community and social engagement. The camp is more than just an exciting place for the SCAMPers; this program provides a growing and learning opportunity for both the young adults hired to be aides or volunteers for the SCAMPers, as well as a respite for the SCAMPers' families who care for them.

Needs range from autism spectrum disorders, cognitive or behavioral impairments to physical disabilities. SCAMPers make fast friends at camp and also get to see and do things in the community that might have previously been unavailable to them.
