What is SCAMP?
Clarkston SCAMP is a 15 day summer camp for individuals with disabilities. SCAMP offers a day camp experience for individuals from 3 to 50+ years old. SCAMPers participate in a variety of different community experiences including field trips, park outings, swimming, boating, art, music, and motor skills.
When is SCAMP?
Inservice Dates: June 15 – June 18
Camp Dates: June 22 – July 29 (No SCAMP the week of July 6)
Who can work at SCAMP?
We are currently hiring Lead Teachers, Adult Aides, Student Aides, and are accepting applications for Volunteers at this time.

SCAMP Lead Teacher
Schedule: Monday – Wednesday, 8:15 AM – 2:15 PM, plus 1 weekly flex hour for group planning and communication.
Role Overview: Lead Teachers will supervise and oversee SCAMPers and staff throughout the summer program. Lead teachers will be responsible for the well being of SCAMPers and will support SCAMPers with daily living tasks and administer medications as needed. Lead teachers are responsible to create weekly camp schedules and implement daily activities for a small group of 6 to 10 SCAMPers.
Qualifications: Certified educators are eligible to apply for a lead teacher position including: special education teachers and general education teachers with valid teaching certificates, school psychologists, school social workers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school counselors, and administrators. Lead Teachers will be trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (provided by the district) and must be able to demonstrate effective behavior prevention and de-escalation strategies. Hourly Rate: $28/hour

SCAMP Adult Aide
Schedule: Monday – Wednesday, 8:45 AM – 2:15 PM (5.5 hours per day)
Role Overview: Adult aides will support Lead Teachers and SCAMPers as needed. Adult aides must have the ability to follow specific behavior and medical plans. If necessary, physical tasks such as pushing a wheelchair, transferring a student in and out of a wheelchair, assisting in toileting students, changing diapers and handling personal hygiene needs of SCAMPers as needed or medically invasive procedures such as catheterization, feeding tubes, etc. may be required.
Requirements: This position is open to applicants who will be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma by June 22, 2026. Staff must be able to work with a variety of staff and SCAMPers. Staff can lift 40 pounds. Staff will be trained in non-violent crisis intervention and must deal with problems including volatile situations. Adult Aides will be trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (provided by the district) and must be able to demonstrate effective behavior prevention and de-escalation strategies.
Hourly Rate:
Tier 1 – $20/hour for current paraprofessionals in any district
Tier 2 – $17/hour for all other applicants.
SCAMP Student Aide
Schedule: Monday – Wednesday, 8:45 AM – 2:15 PM (5.5 hours per day)
Role Overview: Student Aides are responsible for assisting SCAMPers under the guidance and direction of the group’s Lead Teacher. Student Aides should be compassionate and understanding of the unique needs of all SCAMPers.
Qualifications: Student aide positions are open to students who will have completed 8th grade and are at least 14 years old by June 22, 2026.
Hourly Rate: $14/hour
SCAMP Volunteer
SCAMP Schedule: Monday – Wednesday from 8:45 AM – 2:15 PM
Role Overview: Volunteers will assist SCAMPers under the guidance and direction of the group’s Lead Teacher.
Qualifications: Volunteers must currently be 12 years or older. Volunteers may be eligible to earn hours towards service log with supervisor approval.
